The church's octagonal crossing tower has looked down on the quiet village for more than 500 years.
The church had to endure a lot during the Second World War. The church tower has been a listed monument since 1936. The church of Middelburg has largely retained the plan and form in which it was originally designed and built between 1452-1458. This church still has many church treasures.
