Planckendael is a zoo in Muizen, near Mechelen.
This fully-fledged, modern animal park is a perfect addition to the Antwerp Zoo, both animal collections complement each other, so you can visit both parks without getting the impression of seeing the same thing twice.
In Planckendael they try to fit the animal enclosures into the landscape as well as possible. Some parts of the park remain untouched, so you can find wild flowers and plants all year round.
Planckendael is not only home to exotic animals such as rhinos, bison and all kinds of antelope species. There is also a lot of attention for animals from our own region. Because of their reclusive way of life, badgers for example, or their rarity, you hardly get to see these animals in our nature.
Planckendael also has extensive possibilities for recreation: for children there is a large separate playground and many extra animations are distributed throughout the park. Planckendael brings fun and relaxation together with learning about animals and nature.
