Ursel Airport
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ursel Airport is a former NATO reserve airfield.
It is formally a non-active NATO base currently categorized as a reserve airfield of the Belgian Air Force. The airfield is located on the edge of the nature reserve Drongengoed. A flying club operates the airfield during the weekend. The airfield has one large runway of 2980 meters in length, of which approximately 890 meters is currently used for civil activities. There is also a smaller reserve runway that serves as a taxiway. The airfield is used by owners of private and ultralight aircraft and is also home to the flying clubs Aëroclub Brugge and the Vliegclub Ursel, which are active during weekends and holidays. The domain is freely accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, and during the week, Natuurpunt manages the airfield.
