The Windekemolen (or Vissersmolen) is a wooden grain windmill, owned by the province of East Flanders.
At the end of the 18th century there was already a wooden stake mill on the border of Balegem and Scheldewindeke, albeit a little further east. In 1910 this mill burned down and miller De Visscher had an existing mill from Denderwindeke transferred. This mill, also known as 'Fisherman's Mill', dates from around 1815 and originally came from Mark (Hainaut). The mill remained in use until about 1959. In 1978 the mill was protected as a monument.
In 2015-2016, the mill was thoroughly checked and restored. Since the spring of 2018, the mill has been restored to its full glory and regularly open to the public.
This mill has a great heritage value because in horizontal cross-section it is the largest still existing stake mill in East Flanders and the only one in the province with arm wheels.
