Hof ter Saksen was in the 15th century the playground of Jan Vijd, the illegitimate nephew of Joos Vijd and bailiff of the Land of Beveren.
At the beginning of the 19th century, Jan Baptist Versmessen built a new neoclassical castle that impresses many visitors to this day. In the shadow of the castle, you can enjoy walking in the park with an arboretum. From March to October, you can enjoy a refreshing Vijdbiertje or delicious apple juice in the beautiful orangery, a unique pressing of the high-stem fruit from Hof ter Saksen. The orangery is open on Sundays and public holidays.
