Saint Gertrude's Church

The Sint-Gertrudis Church is a church building in Riksingen in the Belgian municipality of Tongeren in the province of Limburg. The church is located on Sint-Geertruistraat, surrounded by the cemetery.
The building is a neoclassicist hall church and consists of a built-in tower, a single-nave ship with three bays, a transept, and a choir with a straight bay and a straight choir closure. The choir is flanked by two sacristies. The square tower has a Romanesque section up to three-quarters of its height made of flint blocks in irregular bond. In 1856, a plinth of limestone was added. Furthermore, the lower part of the tower has limestone corner blocks and bands except for the lower section, and a square window with a limestone frame. The upper part of the tower is built of marlstone in the 13th century, with marlstone pointed arch biforas on the west and south sides and a simple, arched, marlstone bell opening on the north side. Additionally, the tower features a profiled cornice of marlstone, a neoclassical portal from 1856 made of limestone, and a tent roof covered with slates. The ship has a gable roof covered with slates and simple brick pointed arch windows with beveled reveals.
