Prosperpolder, also known as Prosper, is a small hamlet of about 200 inhabitants in the Belgian municipality of Beveren. It is located in the north of the municipality, close to the Dutch border. Before 1857, the region was still a salt marsh and mud flats area along the banks of the Scheldt. Thanks to seventh duke Prosper Louis of Arenberg, the area was dammed and the Prosperpolder was created, with an area of 1051 hectares as we know it today.
