Linden

Framassons held meetings at the linden tree in Bavegem. Among them were even men and women from Dendermonde. A man from Wannezele bought a cow at the market of Dendermonde. The cattle dealer's wife said to him that she had often been in Wannezele at night, but that she was now happily relieved of it. When the man asked what they came to do there, the woman replied that they first flew with music to the Dikke Linde in Bavegem and from there to the 'bischbischbaantje' (?) in Wannegem. The woman admitted that she had been with the framassons at the time and should have signed something with her own blood. She had been freed from these practices by the white fathers of Dendermonde.
