Linden of Bavegem

Numerous folk tales were recorded here:
At the Dikke Linde between Bavegem and Vlierzele, the magicians held meetings every night to make noise and music.
One evening, a cattle merchant and his wife drove past the Dikke Linde in Bavegem. There the man spoke to his wife: "It is said that the devils come here at night. Let them come now!" The next moment the horse-drawn carriage was surrounded by little men in red hats. The man left as quickly as he could and has never been to that place again.
