After the Second World War, the vision of these landscapes changed. For example, in 1949 there is a statement that is typical of the turning point at which agriculture found itself at that time: "The hay and grass of such pastures is so bad and contains so many weeds and weeds (...) that there is no doubt that the health of animals is seriously adversely affected by it."
As a result, the landscape underwent a major transformation. At Charlier's time, a large part of the alluvium was occupied by a cornfield. Another section was reclaimed in 1980 and buried under landfill, the best proof that the alluvial soils had lost their original meaning. There are also a number of fruit trees on the left side of the screen at the place where the former Durmedijk ran. A little more to the east is the Tielrodebroek. This is a controlled flood plain of ninety-three hectares that was completely surrounded by a dike at Sigma height, namely eight meters.
