Description

Vollezele used to be very well known for its stud farms, which specialized in breeding the Brabant Draught Horse. In the centre of Vollezele there is a small statue of the Belgian draught horse Brillant in memory of these breeders. This statue should not be confused with the larger statue on the market of Lennik. R. Van Der Schueren started a stallion breeding farm in 1867, which was later named "Haras de Vollezeele". Another stallion breeder was T. D'Hauwer. Gradually, and over the years, several horse breeders arrived, where the stallions and mares were purchased and thus transported all over the world.
