Westmeerbeek is a village in the Belgian province of Antwerp and a part of the municipality of Hulshout. Westmeerbeek was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977.After Count Ansfried became Bishop of Utrecht in 994, he gave part of the goods he owned in the Kempen to the chapter of the Dom church of Utrecht. The surviving deed of donation mentions the following villages: OdloBolo, Myerbeke, Honbeke and Burente. Although according to archaeological finds Westmeerbeek already existed at the time of the Franks and the Merovingians, this is the first official paper document in which the village is mentioned. The Frankish triangular square is no longer directly visible, but it can be found very clearly on old maps. It stretched from the Netestraat to the Hoogzand, where it ended in a point.
