Baron Lancelot de Gottignies had this house at 67 Dorpsstraat built here as a summer residence. Above the door is the coat of arms with the 3 hammers and the year 1742. The building that encloses the courtyard was probably used as a brewery. There, too, the coat of arms in bluestone can be found. On the other side are the buildings that served as horse stables. Here we find the year 1755. The old Cam was purchased by the city council in 1992 and expanded in the course of the following years into the current community center that has become the hub of cultural life in Gooik. De Cam is also home to a folk café, a geuze blendery and a folk instrument museum.
