Zottegem is a railway station located in Zottegem, Belgium. It is located at the junction of railway line 89 and railway line 122. Zottegem was given a train connection for the first time during the construction of the 's-Gravenbrakel - Ghent line. Zottegem was given a station established by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Braine-le-Comte à Gand which was responsible for the construction and management of the aforementioned railway line. The station would normally be built on the Gent-Geraardsbergen stone road in the 'Lage' district in Strijpen, but the Kortrijkzaan and lawyer Gustave Mussely, ) succeeded in moving the station to Zottegem center; the works in Strijpen were halted. In 1867 the line 's-Gravenbrakel - Ghent opened, in 1870 the line Brussels-Kortrijk and in 1875 the line Aalst-Ronse. Zottegem's design differed slightly from the other stations on the 's-Gravenbrakel - Ghent line. After all, stations were built everywhere according to a standard design prescribed by the State. In Zottegem a station was built that was composed of a high, five-bay, middle part with hipped roof. On both sides, the middle section was flanked by lower wings under a snouted gable roof. The two wings each had two bays. The design was repeated in 1878 at Leopoldsburg station. During World War I in 1918, the station was heavily damaged by British bombing.
