The Castle of Kwabeek is located by the Velpe in Vertrijk, a district of Boutersem in the extreme south of Hageland. The first references to the castle date back to the fourteenth century. At that time, it was a fief of the duchy of Brabant. In 1980, it came into the hands of the municipal authorities of Boutersem and has since functioned as the town hall.
