The works on the comic wall of Corto Maltese began on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. The comic fresco about the hero of Hugo Pratt is being painted on the walls that encompass the Department of Public Works of the City of Brussels. The new comic wall adorns the intersection of Akenkaai and Ruimingskaai at the Port of Brussels [map]. Brussels Bad thus provides an excellent opportunity to witness the works. Since July 29, the first strokes of Corto Maltese can be seen. The coloring of the fresco will begin on Monday, August 3, and will, according to the organizers, take several weeks.
Comic wall of 80 meters
The comic wall is no less than 80 meters wide. To accomplish this task, work is being done in 4 phases. The 4 different drawings will ultimately form one gigantic comic wall. The first drawing shows Corto Maltese, sitting on a dune with his gaze on the endless sea.
