This house named "D'Eycken Boom" was first mentioned in 1440 as "Den Inghel". By deed of September 5, 1502, it was sold to the rhetoric society "de Groeyende Boom". Originally, it consisted of two separate residences (in 1557 the rear building was sold separately). In 1638, the house was severely damaged and in 1709 it was rebuilt in late Baroque style. Extensive changes followed in 1764-1765, including the repurchase of the rear house and its adaptation to the main building, and the enlargement of the meeting room on the upper floor. In 1793, the upper room served as a drawing school. During the French domination, it was sold as national property and from 1840 to 1919, it was owned by a brewing family from Lier. In 1908, the facade underwent restoration with the intervention of the city.
