A concrete bridge, the so-called Pontbrug, connects the village square with the other side of the Leie. The bridge was built to replace one of the three ferries on the Leie, which constituted the only connection to Ghent before the construction of the Drongensesteenweg. The first bridge made of wood (1826) was renewed in 1899-1900 in bluestone and iron; destroyed in 1918, it was replaced in 1926-27 by the still-existing concrete arch bridge with Vierendeel beams, after a temporary wooden bridge was built in 1919.
