The nature reserve 'De Molenbeekvallei' is a stream valley, located on the border of Erps-Kwerps (Kortenberg) and Veltem-Beisem. It is a wet area (bowl soils) that until the Second World War mainly consisted of flower-rich hay meadows. From 1950, with the rise of the tractor and dry fodder, hay was no longer as necessary as animal food and these pastures were largely planted with canada poplars.
