The Dominican monastery Centre Spirituel Notre-Dame de Fichermont had a very well-known nun, better known as Sister Smile (Jeanne Deckers), with her hit "Dominique". It even topped the American charts for a while. She regularly sang her self-composed songs there. The monastery came up with the idea to press a record that could be given to visitors and novices. In 1967, she left the monastery. However, Deckers had to cough up taxes for her music, the income from which had gone to the monastery all that time, and she had not seen a cent of it. In 1985, she committed suicide along with her lesbian friend by taking an overdose of sleeping pills.
