The hamlet of Cotthem is located on a hillside, in a wooded area. Centuries ago, a certain Cota must have lived there. After all, Cotthem is a corruption of the Germanic Cota haim, which means as much as 'the dwelling place of Cota'.
The hamlet is located between Oombergen, Hillegem and Sint-Lievens-Houtem. Everything exudes peace and quiet. Among the generous greenery there are still old, characterful houses, some of which have been converted into eateries.
