This old railway connection between Dendermonde and Puurs has not been in use since the 1970s. The association 'Belgian Friends of the Steam Locomotive' has been renting this railway line for years. They restore old steam locomotives and wagons. In the summer months, on weekends and public holidays, they provide tourist rides for their old steam locomotives on this railway line over a length of 14 km from Baasrode to Puurs. About 5 km of the mountain bike route (red and green loop) runs parallel to this railway
