The Hof van Steelant is one of the oldest and most interesting manor farms in Loppem. On this estate on Rijselsestraat, the oldest known lords of Loppem, the van Steelants, lived as early as the 13th century. Of this fief, which was owned by the Bruges lords of Gruuthuuse in the 15th and 16th centuries, only the lower farm remains, with farmhouse, stable, and barn. In its current form, the farm likely dates from around 1700.
The medieval manor house itself must have stood in the southeast corner of the yard: we still find traces of a moated mound there. The farm site was classified as a protected monument in 1999.
