Rue de la Rechte no. 1
The corner of the Rechtestraat and the Bruulstraat is formed by Het Hof ten Bruul or the Pachthof van St.-Elisabeth, sometimes also called Promoteurshof. The old court includes the farmstead on the corner with the house number Rechtestraat no. 1, and the neighboring house with the year 1784 with the house number Bruulstraat, no. 35. The Hof ten Bruul was an Erps island. In 1596 this property was a leasehold of Jan van Velthem. In 1695 the Hof ten Bruul was burned down by the French. The farmstead was owned by the monastery of St. Elisabeth-on-the-Berg-Sion in Brussels. It was an almost square farmhouse with a kamme or brewery. Nicolaas Peeters was the tenant of the Hof ten Bruul in 1734. In 1784, Emperor Joseph II abolished the monastery of St. Elizabeth. All goods were sold, including the Hof ten Bruul. Jacobus De Winter bought the farm. The De Winter and Roeckx families succeeded each other in this farm. Before 1914, the bequeath was celebrated on this farm. Before 1914, the neighbouring house - originally there were two houses here - was the inn 'In de Pruim' of the Verhoogen family. At the time, it was a house with a gable. In 1918 the gable disappeared and the house was given an upper floor. In the early 1960s, Robert Detheux bought this house, restored the building and added the date 1784.
