The Kesterheide is a witness hill and one of the oldest residential sites in the Pajottenland. With its 111.86 meters, this hill is the highest point in South-West Brabant. From the flattened top of this hill you can enjoy a beautiful panorama: the green Pajottenland landscape with in the distance the apartment buildings of Brussels, the courthouse and the basilica of Koekelberg and the Atomium. You will also find the geodesic point the "Iron Man", a measuring point that indicates the exact height above the sea spike and the astronomical position (longitude and latitude), the Calvary Cross that was placed to dedicate the 20th century to Christ, the water reservoir, the radar mast for satellite communication of NATO that is connected to the "white balloon" of Satcom a little further on. On the Kesterheide you will also find the Pervivo Park, a park in memory of children who have died of a metabolic disease and which was inaugurated in 1999 by the association B.O.K.S (Belgian Parents' Association of Children with a Metabolic Disease) in the presence of H.R.H. Prince Laurent.
