The Jan van Ruusbroec Forest Museum (Bosmuseum Jan van Ruusbroec) is located in the heart of the Sonian Forest, near the Groenendaal bridge. Set up at the initiative of the Ministry of the Flemish Community, with the support of the Forest and Nature department (Groenendaal section) responsible for the management of the surrounding Sonian Forest.
Anyone who wishes can be guided through the environment of the forest and its inhabitants and familiarized with the principles of forest management. Due to its unique location, the Forest Museum is an ideal starting point for walking and cycling tours through the largest deciduous forest in Flanders. Many educational activities are set up there.
The museum is accessible free of charge from Wednesday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m.
From April 1 to November 1, the museum is open from 10 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Annual closure from December 24 to January 1.
