Built in the pointed style of the 15th century, between 1864 and 1867, this now unoccupied building served as a Court of Justice until 2003 following the relocation of judicial services to the new Judicial Center located on Place Schalbert. After the liberation of 1944, the Luxembourg War Council convened there from October 1944 to May 1947 and issued 2629 judgments.
Above the windows on the second floor, the coats of arms of ten towns in the province can be seen, namely: La Roche, Bouillon, Houffalize, Virton, Neufchâteau, Arlon, Marche, Bastogne, Saint-Hubert, Chiny.
At the foot of the steps of the Court of Justice, a plaque commemorates that at this location, Joséphine François, Marcel, and Edmond, a mother and her two sons from Lenclos (Etalle) were executed without trial by the Germans on August 22, 1914.
