Westrozebeke was already a parish in 950 according to tradition. In 1066 the settlement was already mentioned as Rosebeca (Rozebeke). In November 1382, the Flemish forces of Philip van Artevelde were crushed at Westrozebeke by an army under the command of Philip the Bold. According to the chroniclers, the Flemings were 50,000 strong and left no less than 20,000 dead on the battlefield. This battle marked the end of the power of the communes and the beginning of the Burgundian era. A monument at the former town hall commemorates this historic event.
Westrozebeke is also known as a place of pilgrimage with its many Ommegang chapels.
There are various places to drink and eat in the centre of Westrozebeke.
