The Vlaams Wielercentrum Eddy Merckx is a professional cycling track in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It is the only covered cycling track in Belgium that meets international competition standards. The Wielercentrum, named after Eddy Merckx, the greatest racer in cycling history, was opened on February 17, 2006. It is located in the Blaarmeersen recreation area and is part of the Sport-Vlaanderen sports centre in Ghent. The construction was financially supported by the provincial government of East Flanders, the city of Ghent, the Belgian and Flemish cycling federations and the Belgian lottery company.
