These houses are one of the most beautiful houses in the city. These gems were originally owned by the van Ranst family. The van Ranst houses probably formed one large complex. The current homes were built by the family in the 17th century after the destruction of Tienen in 1635. They are a fine example of the fusion of different styles such as the traditional brick and sandstone style, the late baroque, and the Louis XIV style.
