The castle of Neerijse, also called castle d'Overschie, was originally a hunting pavilion before it was completely rebuilt in classicist style in 1770. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the castle was rebuilt a number of times inside. In 1979 the castle was protected as a monument together with the coach house. From 1942 to 1983 the castle served as a hospital, from 1985 to 2004 as a hotel-restaurant and has been converted into luxury apartments since 2007.
