Architect Pierre Verbruggen built this house for himself in 1924. The house was a remarkable building in the eclectic quarter around the city hall of Saint Gilles. Verbruggen had to deal with a lot of incomprehension from his contemporaries. In his correspondence with the community it appears that he had big difficulties with the acceptation of his design. Fortunately, the architect executed his plans, and today we can admire the result of his determination and talent.
