Architect Pierre Verbruggen had this house built for himself in 1924. The residence was a striking and bold structure in the eclectic neighborhood around the town hall of Sint-Gillis. The architect faced much misunderstanding from his contemporaries. His correspondence with the municipality shows that he encountered great difficulties in getting his design accepted. Fortunately, Verbruggen did not let this bother him, allowing us to now admire the beautiful result of his determination and talent.
