The Hoguet House is a unique witness to the clothing sector that was very important in Sint-Gillis since the 19th century and until its collapse in the 1980s. In 1929, Mr. Hoguet submitted a building application for a workshop/residence. The company was already quite well-known at that time. It owned a shop on the Waterloosesteenweg and branches in the center of Brussels, Sint-Joost, and Schaarbeek. Hoguet enlisted architect G. Ligo from Forest. He likely also took care of the interior finishing of the building. The building was transferred by the Hoguet family to the municipality with the explicit desire to give it a cultural purpose. The building was protected in 1998, and today it houses the 'Center for the Book'.
