In 1982, during the development of the Katteput neighborhood, a small park was created here, accessible from Josse Goffinlaan. The name dates back to 1983, in memory of an important landowner, Jean De Mulder. He died in 1964 and bequeathed a significant heritage to the municipality at this location. The residents of the neighborhood submitted a request to the municipality for a different, more poetic name (Muzenpark, Dichterspark...). However, the request was not favorably received, and the name De Mulderpark was retained.
