The Castle of the Counts of Herbeumont is a ruined castle in the village of Herbeumont on the river Semois in the province of Luxembourg. The ruin stands atop steep hill of slate. The ruins were renovated in 2010.
In 1200 Herbeumont came into the possession of the Walcourt-Rochefort family by marriage. Until then, Herbeumont was part of the lordship of Orgeo. After two generations, Herbeumont came into the possession of Jehan de Rochefort. In 1268, Herbeumont became an independent lordship and Jehan built a castle there to serve as the seat of his power. The original medieval castle was built on the model of Philip II of France: a trapezoidal plan with seven corner towers, including the mighty keep connected by courtines with a large courtyard.
