Van de oorspronkelijke Romaanse kerk van omstreeks 1100 is niets meer terug te vinden. Het huidige neogotische kerkgebouw en het kerkmeubilair dateert van 1900. Alleen de doopvont dateert van 1619 en was een gift van Israël Jansens, Inghelsman ende Oppermeester van de Zuydtleye (verantwoordelijke voor de vaartdelvers). Op het kerkhof rond de kerk vind je nog enkele interessante grafmonumenten zoals de gerestaureerde grafkapel de Vrière en verschillende adellijke en andere grafmonumenten. Tegenover de kerk, in de Hoornstraat ligt de 19de eeuwse omwalde pastorie.
