Heksenmonument

The city of Beselare enjoys a wide reputation as city of witchcraft. In the 17-and 18-th century and even the First World War it haunted here on severals sites. Unlikely to other towns with a lively superstition, the surviving stories in Beselare,are also recorded by popular writers such as Louis De Wolf, Edward Vermeulen and recently Joseph Maes. The biennial witch parade with figures as Calle Bletters, Tanneke Vanhulle, Meele Crot and Sefa Bubbles come back to life. The parade will biennially take place on the last Sunday of July, the historic date of death Sefa Bubbles in 1750. Related to the parade, a bronze monument witch and a magic herb can be found a little bit further. The recreational path carries the hiker along the haunted paths of the past. Obviously you have such a close walk with a beer in a local witch Beselare staminet.
