This white column commemorates the contribution of the New Zealand division on October 4 and 12, 1917. The site of the monument was captured by the New Zealanders on October 4. For the German troops, who were planning an attack just as the New Zealanders stormed their trenches, this was a dark day. The column bears an inscription in Dutch, French, and English. Nearby, a small British bunker can be visited along the roadside.
