The oldest part of the town hall was built to replace the earlier city hall and belfry tower that had stood in the middle of the Grote Markt since the 14th century. It was constructed between 1769 and 1771 in classical style and is adorned with elegant rococo elements. During the visit, you will discover the beautiful interior and numerous lovely artworks. On the ground floor, you can view, among other things, the portrait gallery of all the mayors of Roeselare who have represented the city since 1830. Just before you enter the municipal council chamber on the first floor, you will be surrounded by a number of artworks, each with its own story connected to Roeselare.
