From the bronze statue of Willem van Saeftinghe on the Market Square starts the Ter Doest walking tour (5,5 km or 7,2 km). The walk takes you from the winding streets of Lissewege, through the surrounding area where you can enjoy some picturesque panoramic vieuws along the Boudewijn Canal to the nearby Ter Doest Abbey. The Abbey itself is gone, but the impressive abbey barn dating from 1275 is still very much there, making it the largest Cistercian barn in Europe.
