Green domain Vloethemveld

Description

Vloethemveld is a protected landscape that extends over the municipalities of Zedelgem and Snellegem. The name Vloethem-veld indicates that it is an old heathland, which was wooded in the 18th and 19th centuries and was also partly converted into agricultural land. Part of the forest was used in the past as an ammunition depot for the Belgian army. The domain is freely accessible with the exception of the former military area.
Access via the Diksmuidse Heirweg.
