The clay pipes 1
In the 17th century, under the Spanish conservative regime, the Derle belongs to the noble canonesses.
In the 18th century, under the Austrian liberal regime, the Derle goes over to bankers and merchants.
In the 19th century the Derle becomes the property of a group of small business concerns who are at the service of the pipe makers. Mechanized factories produce pipes, surpassing the production of Gouda.
In the 20th century the Derle belongs to important mining and ceramic companies. The clay pipe, that is so fragile, has to give way to the wooden and meerschaum pipe.
