Ville-du-Bois (16th century) probably owes its name to a coal trader who settled in the middle of the forest. Some houses still show elements from the 17th century. Despite the recent changes, you can still see the typical Ardennes layout of the houses. The slate roofs consist of slates about 1 cm thick, sourced from the quarries of Cahay.
The most picturesque part of the village is the "Tneu Ru," named after the stream that divides the village in two.
