Liers is a place and district municipality in the Belgian province of Liège. Since the major municipal reorganization of 1977, Liers has been part of the municipality of Herstal. Liers is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Maastricht. Liers is situated on the Chaussée Brunehaut, which leads from Tongeren to Herstal. Liers is in Dry Haspengouw at an altitude of about 150 meters. Liers is located at the edge of the Liège agglomeration. To the east lies the A13 with a large industrial area directly to its east. To the north runs Railway Line 34 with Liers Station located on it. The surrounding area of Liers is still rural.
