Gijverinkhove is a rural village in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Since 1977, it has been a part of Alveringem. Previously, in 1971, it was already attached to Leisele. Gijverinkhove was first mentioned in 1120 as Gibahardinge hofa, presumably meaning the court of Ghyverinc, named after its owner. In 1143, there was already mention of a parish whose patronage rights belonged to the Abbey of Voormezele.
