Cambron-Casteau is a village in the Belgian province of Hainaut and a part of Brugelette. It is located east of the main municipality of Brugelette itself, also along the Eastern Dender. The name Cambron dates back to the 8th century. Cambron-Casteau used to be one entity with the villages of Cambron-Mairie and Cambron-Saint-Vincent. In 1148, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux founded a Cistercian abbey in Cambron, the Abbey of Cambron, which became one of the most prosperous in the County of Hainaut. It was abolished in 1789 by Emperor Joseph II. As of 2019, the abbey tower from 1774, the monumental staircase from 1776, and the complete medieval wall remain. The site is home to the Pairi Daiza zoo.
