Werm is located south of Hoeselt along the road from Bilzen to Tongeren and has evolved from a Haspengouw agricultural village focused mainly on fruit cultivation to a residential village.
Worm was a Liège lordship, initially owned by the Van Werm families, from 1341 by Van Marteal de Milmort, and from 1373 by De Bernar. In the first half of the 15th century, it came to the family Van den Bosch of Mopertingen, in 1449 to Van Duras, and in 1534 to the Schroots family. In 1535 a division took place, whereby the Merode family was also assigned a part. In 1610, the lordship came entirely back to the Schroots family. Later, the lordship became divided again, and families such as Van Horne, Vaes, Brouckmans, van Eyll, and Barthels emerged.
