Did you know that the beer type lambic is derived from the municipality name Lembeek? Lambic is therefore a typical regional beer from the Zenne Valley and the Pajottenland. Lambic is the oldest of the still existing beers and probably originated around 1300. Lambic can be drunk straight from the cask, but most lambic is used as a raw material for geuze, kriekenlambic, or faro.
