Aartrijke is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Aartrijke was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977 and has since been a part of Zedelgem. A resident of Aartrijke is called an Aartrijkenaar. Archaeological finds attest to the settlement of the area in the Neolithic period. Aerial photographs show circular structures dating from the Bronze Age and early Iron Age. The name Aartrijke has Roman origins, as Roman roads ran through Aartrijke and coins and pottery have also been found. The roads were divercula, namely the current Zeeweg and the current Steenstraat.
