Hoelbeek is a village in the municipality of Bilzen, in the Belgian province of Limburg. Until 1977 Hoelbeek was an independent municipality, after which it was merged with Bilzen. Hoelbeek has 483 inhabitants. This makes it the smallest part of Bilzen.De soil consists of sand and loam and is about 30% forested. There is also arable farming and grassland. The village has remained an agricultural village for a long time, but in the last decades of the 20th century it has developed more and more as a residential village.
